"Living Christ's mission,
the great commandment and the great commission."

Transforming Thoughts
By Pastor Linda Peters

God has given us all gifts for ministry.  Take for instance  Tom Logan and how he learned to use his gifts.  Tom is the director of the Shallow Well Program  in Malawi, Africa, sponsored by the Marion Medical Mission. Though he is a very successful businessman, he still yearned for a ministry.  In a conversation with a missionary doctor Tom learned that the most serious health problem is safe drinking water.  Tom began a ministry of digging shallow wells.  His business organizational experience helped him design a program that, though financially supported by donations, is predominantly run by Malawians.  Since 1991, over 5600 shallow wells have been dug that provide over 1,400,000 people with safe drinking water.  Now, that is using one’s gifts to answer God’s call!

So what are your gifts for ministry? We are all called to be a blessing, to offer a challenge, to provide light for the world.  We are called to work together. Answering God’s call is never easy, but it is always worthwhile.  Most of you know my favorite symbol of transformation is the butterfly.  Because it is so beautiful, we often forget the very difficult and dangerous change it goes through from crawling caterpillar to flying splendor.  God desires a similar transformation for each of us and for Unity. It will not be easy, but it will be worthwhile.  Let us be transformed by the Holy Spirit and use our God-given gifts to make a difference in this world. Up, up and away.  Together we can be changed, we can transform, we can fly!

Blessings, Linda
